If you’ve watched legitimate Google reviews vanish from your business profile, especially if you are looking at higher numbers of reviews around the 100+ mark, you’re not alone.
Many local businesses, including home-service companies, report the same frustrating pattern. One day the count looks solid; the next, a chunk of real customer feedback is simply gone.
Google’s systems are aggressive about filtering spam, fake reviews, and suspicious patterns. The downside? Genuine reviews often get caught in the net too. Reviews can disappear due to automated spam filters, reviewer account issues, profile changes, policy checks, or occasional glitches. Once removed for a clear policy violation they usually stay gone, but filtered or wrongly flagged ones can sometimes return.
What to Do Right Now?
Document the loss: Note your previous count, when the reviews vanished, and any reviewer names you remember. Screenshot both the public profile (incognito mode) and your Google Business Profile dashboard.
Wait a couple of days: Temporary filters or display bugs often clear within 48–72 hours.
Contact Google support: Go to support.google.com/business/gethelp, select your business, type “Missing Review,” and choose that option. Include your Business Profile ID, the number of missing reviews, timeframe, screenshots, and confirmation they came from real customers. Follow up if needed and escalate via the Google Business Profile Community forums with your Case ID.
Ask customers to re-post carefully (only if support confirms the reviews are gone for good) — Have them use established Google accounts from their own devices a day or more after service.
How to Protect Future Google Reviews
You can’t eliminate the risk completely, but these habits make your review activity look far more organic and reduce the chance of mass removals:
Monitor your count regularly and build reviews on other platforms so you’re not relying solely on Google.
Keep a steady, natural flow of reviews instead of sudden spikes.
Request feedback after the customer has left—via a short personal text or email with your direct review link. Skip on-site tablets, shared devices, or business Wi-Fi.
Encourage specific, detailed reviews from customers who already have Google account history. Never offer incentives.
Respond promptly and professionally to every review.
Keep your Google Business Profile accurate, verified, and active. Avoid frequent major changes and watch for duplicate listings.
